Mary would do anything to win the fellowship at Prometheus Lab’s for her work on the human body - a modern retelling of Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein in honour of the 200th anniversary of the novel.

Andrea Montgomery

Andrea Montgomery - "Mary"

Andrea Catherine Montgomery has a diploma in broadcasting from SAIT and a B.F.A. (acting) from the University of Lethbridge. She works as a radio talk show producer for Newstalk 770 and has her own current events show on the weekend called You Missed This. She's super excited for the opportunity to combine both her studied crafts into one for this production.


Lara Schmitz

Lara Schmitz - "The Creature"

Lara is a Calgarian actor, director, and writer. This is her second time with Calgary Radio Playhouse after The Raggedy Man Cometh last season. She lent her voice to the Calgary Municipal Space Station's introduction video and hibernation simulators this fall for Beakerhead, in addition to directing the performers and managing the operations of the project. Select theatre acting credits include: Sextet (Verb Theatre), The Hollow (Vertigo Theatre), Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Alberta Theatre Projects), and Time Present (Lunchbox Theatre). This year she is acting in It’s a Wonderful Life for Theatre Northwest and The Lonely Diner for Vertigo Theatre, while continuing to work on a commissioned script with Matt McKinney for Verb Theatre, alongside the early stages of the Bottle Picker Monologues with Downstage and a few other scripts.


Britt van Groningen

Britt van Groningen - "Vala"

Britt van Groningen is an interdisciplinary artist based in Calgary, Alberta and Utrecht, The Netherlands. Her work primarily focuses on themes of self-preservation and confessional writing and often utilises recorded sound and her own voice. Along side collaborating with artists from a variety of disciplines, she currently teaches a performance creation class at the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts. Omatta Udalor

Omatta Udalor - "Doctor Dietrich"

Omatta Udalor, is a Masters of Arts graduate and practicing thespian. He is a Compare, Producer, Actor, Director, Model, Voice Artiste.

He began his professional career as a child actor and continued into his adult years. He quickly got his feet wet moving to Canada with stints on Till You're 16, AMC's Hell on Wheels, Private Dicks, stage play Bonds by Urban Theatre and various commercials.


Stuart Bentley

Stuart Bentley - "Crematorium Officer"

Stuart has been acting (and occasionally singing) on stage and in film for 45 years. Stage highlights include Nixon in “Frost-Nixon”, Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" and Caldwell B. Cladwell in “Urinetown: The Musical”. Recent film and TV credits include roles in "Damnation" and "Wynonna Earp", and the crazed killer Gordo in "Herschell Gordon Lewis' Bloodmania". Voice work has become Stuart's passion and along with the commercials he has recorded for radio over the years, he is thrilled to be working with the talented team on Darkside Drive!


The Writer

Shaun Crawford

Shaun Crawford

Shaun Crawford is a Calgary-based screenwriter and filmmaker. He studied screenwriting at Vancouver Film School and holds a Bachelors of Education from the University of Alberta. Shaun has written for radio, television, web, short and long form film, and virtual reality. His work has appeared on CBC, The Movie Network, HBO, and screened at festivals in Canada and the U.S. In 2016, Shaun’s first feature film, A Miracle on Christmas Lake, received worldwide distribution with Sony Home Entertainment. His next feature film, Everfall, starring revered Canadian actor, Colm Feore is scheduled for a 2018 release.

Shaun is currently working in the new and exciting arena of virtual reality, writing a one-act play, and is developing a feature length screenplay based on the real life story of Japanese Canadian, Masumi Mitsui who fought for Canada during World War I and was put in a Japanese internment camp during World War II.

Shaun is a passionate supporter of dreamchasers and believes in the capacity of the arts to explore the human experience. While not writing, he is undoubtedly spending time with his family.
